The aim of this school project was to study the use of concrete and its interaction with other materials. The title called for the design of a concrete chapel, inspired by the work of Tadao Ando, in particular his "Church of the Light" project in Ibaraki, Japan.

I took up the concept of allowing natural light to penetrate through the symbol of the cross, playing on the contrast between the softness of this light and the coldness of the exposed concrete.
The chapel, partially buried to allow glass openings at ground level, offers a view of the surrounding countryside. A gentle slope, echoing the wall that runs alongside it, guides visitors into the serenity of the chapel's interior.
